WALAN @ SupaNova - Timetable, Prizes and more!

With a little over a week to go until our event at SupaNova, we've got a bunch of announcements to make for the event!

First but certainly not least, the tournament timetable for the event has been released!

  • Sun 00:00 - Guitar Hero
  • Sun 00:00 - Quake 3 Endurance

  • Sun 06:00 - Super Smash Bros
  • Sun 08:00 - Unreal Tournament 3 FFA
In order to make sure competitions run as smoothly as possible, and to make sure we can give everyone awesome prizes - all the tournaments at this event will promote a single winner!

Prizes for the event are being provided by our generous sponsors over at Direct Fusion Technologies, Thermaltake, Anyware Computer Accessories, Cyber Snipa, Crucial Memory, TP-Link and Logitech!

Additionally, we've taken your feedback from the last SupaNova event and are currently working with the staff there to ensure that snacks throughout the day will be available to LAN patrons without requiring entry to the expo, and at a reasonable price.

For those who do want to visit the SupaNova Pop Culture Expo - we've also negotiated a cheaper entry price for only $10 for WALAN patrons!

If you haven't already registered and prepaid for the event, make sure you do so immediately to secure your seat. At around only $1 per hour of gaming fun - you can't afford to miss out!

WALAN @ SupaNova!

Following on from last year's very successful exhibition, SupaNova will be returning to Perth in 2009! Once again, the team at WALAN have been asked to hold a LAN event alongside and we're proud to announce our next event...

Join us on the 4th and 5th of July at the Claremont Showgrounds for a weekend gaming extravaganza! As well as our usual roundup of public game servers, we'll be holding a range of PC gaming tournaments as well as console gaming madness.

Registrations are open NOW! Tickets will only set you back $30, either prepaid or at the door - and includes tested and tagged power leads for your computer and monitor!

Patrons who want to check out the SupaNova Pop Culture Expo can flash their WALAN wristband and receive specially priced day entry for only $10, cheaper than regular expo-goers!

April 2009 Event

Hi Lanners.

Due to unforeseen circumstances WALAN we are unable to hold the 2009 April event. We apologise for the delay in this announcement but the team has been busy working hard to put together something for you all.

We are working hard towards a Kick-Ass Event in July and hope to see you all on the 4th-5th July 2009, so please keep an eye on the forums for any further announcements about WALAN events!

Impromptu Server Maintenance!

After approximately five years of dedicated service and with an uptime in excess of two years at the current moment, the trusty WALAN webserver is starting to feel it's age. It's well overdue for an upgrade, and indeed it's something that's been sitting on the backburner for a while now.

Sometime tomorrow we'll be retiring the old server and replacing it with its replacement, which will aim to keep serving you for many years to come! During this time the website, forums and mailing lists will be offline. Bear with us though, the outage is only expected to last half an hour.

We'll miss you, old walanbox ~*sniff*~
